Our RE Curriculum
At Knowles Primary School, we teach R.E from EYFS to Year 6. Religious Education poses challenging questions about the ultimate meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human. It develops our children’s knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other religions and worldviews, improving their perception of the wider world and the power of faiths and beliefs within contemporary society. Religious Education encourages our children to learn about and from a range of different religions.
Our curriculum is supported by Discovery RE, an award winning RE curriculum which meets the aims of the National Curriculum and the Milton Keynes agreed syllabus. Our curriculum supports children to develop their sense of identity and belonging and enables them to flourish both individually and as an important part of our community and as a member of the wider world. Children develop compassion, empathy, reflection and the ability to think philosophically. Religious Education encourages our children to be curious and to demonstrate humility. It helps to prepare them for adult life by developing respect for and sensitivity to others and acceptance of other faiths.
