Our History Curriculum
At Knowles Primary School, we value History as a practical and engaging subject which motivates and inspires our children to gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Through the study of individuals, societies, cultures and countries within which they live – and those within the wider world – History enables pupils to gain awareness of what happened in the past and reasons for these events.
Our curriculum offer in History meets the aims of the National Curriculum and we use Rising Stars History to support our ambitious offer to ensure that high quality History lessons are taught from Year 1 – Year 6 with strong links to Understanding the World in EYFS.
Our History lessons are blocked to ensure children are fully immersed in three engaging history units each year which are enriched with local visits, virtual reality experiences such as Virtual Reality Vikings in Year 5, visitors and trips to historical sites such as Warwick Castle in Year 3 and Bletchley Park in Year 6.
Our History Leader is Miss Greene
